Thanks to the expansion process, the sheet metal can expand up to 8 times its original width, lose up to 75% of its weight per meter and become stiffer. So it's lighter and cheaper than a single metal plate.
Expanded mesh types include raised expanded mesh (also known as standard expanded mesh or plain expanded mesh) and flattened expanded mesh.
The raised expanded metal mesh has diamond-shaped openings with a slightly raised surface. The flattened steel mesh is made by passing the standard steel mesh through a cold rolling mill to form a flat diamond-shaped opening.
